Be Of Good Cheer; I Have Overcome

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but Be Of Good Cheer; I Have Overcome the world." John 16:33 KJV

Jesus speaks in the past tense in this passage. It is not a future event. It is a done deed! Through Christ’s victory, all believers are overcomers, because He has made us His own! The present world system holds no threat for the true believer. The only thing they can interact with is our body. Death is no threat for those that possess Eternal Life. “Behold, I shew you a mystery: We (believers) shall not all sleep (physically die), but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the Last Trump: for the Trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible (earthly body) must put on incorruption (heavenly body), and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” We will be given transformed bodies like Jesus’ glorified form upon His return. “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.” Death for the child of God is the gateway to His visible presence, Jesus! God is an omnipresent Spirit. To step from behind the veil of this mortal body, this sinful flesh, we step directly into His presence. “Absent from the body…present with the Lord.” We can walk amid chaos with calmness, because “the earth is the LORD’S and the fullness thereof.” God is never caught off guard, because He already knows the end from the beginning. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My Ways higher than your ways, and My Thoughts than your thoughts.” There is no circumstance in your life for which He does not already have a plan. There is no secret evil plan that He has not been aware of since the beginning of time. “The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord…If they have called the Master of the house ‘Beelzebub,’ how much more shall they call them of His household? Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.” All secrets will be revealed on Judgment Day!

At peace with God! Oh wondrous thought,
To cast out fear and ev’ry doubt,
His Love surrounds on ev’ry side,
And does, within each child, abide. –CGP

Peace is dependent on God’s Word. “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My Mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Forever, O Lord, Thy Word is settled in Heaven.” Obedience readies us for Christ’s Return. His Grace is always sufficient. The obedient never lack provision. We defeat fear and doubt with obedience to God’s Word. Did Jesus Love us by tolerating our sin or by forgiving us? Repentance is forsaking your sin, not feeling bad or crying about it!  Forgiveness brings Peace to the humble penitent. God’s Peace brings good cheer and Joy unspeakable!

"Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." Psalms 91:9-11 KJV
